Under the Weather? 4 Tips to Get You Through It
We got really ill in my house a few weeks ago. It was awful!
Everyone in the household went down, one after the other. I got sick first, so you know what that means as a mom…I was taking care of everyone!
My husband said "I have never used soooo many essential oils in my whole life!" Seriously, we pulled out all of our natural tools in full force because it was the moment that we needed them the most.
I don’t know what we would have done without our oils that week.
I want to give you some tips on using doTERRA oils to support your body when your immune system is working overtime to overcome something.
1.Turn on your essential oil diffusers
When you’re not feeling well, your essential oil diffuser is your best friend! You can use a diffuser to cleanse and purify the air in t=your home, support your immune function and encourage mental wellbeing.
I love turning on my diffuser every day but I am especially grateful for it when we’re struggling. This time, I diffused 2 of my immune support favorites: doTERRA Air-X blend and DDR Prime blend. These are both very powerful!
doTERRA Air-X is a blend designed to help you breathe better and freshen the air. Use this in your diffuser whenever the air in your house is stale, musky or when your entire family is under the weather. The Cardamom and Frankincense oils in Air-X help you take deep breaths, while the Tangerine, Litsea and Grapefruit help to neutralize the yuck in your house. Even when we’re all feeling well, I like to use Air-X in my diffuser in my office, which can get a little musty. It is super uplifting and fresh-smelling! The grapefruit in this blend also helps promote focus and mental clarity. Goodbye, brain fog!
DDR Prime is a blend by doTERRA specifically created to support cellular health and wellbeing. I use this one to help us have a healthy immune response when we’re not well and I LOVE how powerful this blend is! It has Frankincense, Wild Orange, Litsea, Thyme, Clove, Summer Savory, Niaouli, and Lemongrass essential oils. I actually like to combine both DDR Prime and Air-X blends in my diffuser for best results!
2. Make essential oil tea
Drinking essential oil teas can be soothing to your throat, deeply cleansing for the cells in your throat, supportive to your entire immune system and for many of the other systems of your body.
If you’re new to making essential oil tea, welcome to a whole new world of immune support! It’s super simple.
You can either add 1-3 drops of essential oil to your favorite herbal tea OR simple use doTERRA oils in a mug of hot water to make your tea from scratch. Here’s how!
Pour yourself a mug of hot water and allow to cool for 3-5 minutes. Once your water is only lightly steaming, add 1 drop each Copaiba, Frankincense and Siberian Fir essential oils to a spoonful of raw local honey and stir this mixture into your water until dissolved. Drink and enjoy the effects of this immune powerhouse!
Not only is this combination helpful when you’ve come down with something, I also suggest this trio for brain fog and anxious feelings. If you have been struggling with feeling anxious or have a stressful job, this oil trio is for you!
3. Stick with your daily health habits
It happens to all of us- we feel ourselves coming down with something and we start cramming vegetables into our mouths, chugging tea and supplementing like crazy. Yes, immune support is so important when we’re not well- but you know what is the most helpful thing? Consistent daily health habits.
Consistently doing the same healthy habits every single day, rain or shine keeps us healthy and happy…or helps us recover when we get exposed to something.

For us it’s really important to drink enough water, take Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Zinc. We also recognize the importance of going outside and feeling the sunshine every day.

4. Do a symphony of the cells oil application on your family

The concept is this: Apply essential oils in a specific order to specific parts of your body for optimal wellness. The book makes it so easy that even kids can learn to do it! My older daughter Emma can follow the guides and apply oils to us and vice versa, making it simple to care for one another in our family.
I highly suggest grabbing a Symphony of the Cells book and applying your doTERRA oils accordingly. I find that it helps us recover faster and feel empowered against whatever is going on with us.
